Hydrogen has the following properties:

  • Hydrogen is a constituent part of the fossil fuel, hence why fossil fuels are called hydrocarbons
  • Hydrogen burns with a fast flame
  • Hydrogen is not a foreign addition to the normal fuel/air mixture

This principle of hydrogen actually helps the fossil fuel burn faster therefore providing more time for all of the fuel to be burnt. The biggest advantage of using hydrogen is that only a little is required to act as a catalyst.

The end result is the only proven system for greenhouse gas emission reduction and diesel engine efficiency improvement in Australia.

We Use Pure Industry Supplied Hydrogen

You may have heard of the hydrogen generator that uses the electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen for an engine. As a fuel enhancer, it has limited pressure and volume available to the engine.

The produced gas is called Browns Gas and is a mixture of oxygen and hydrogen, which is an extremely flammable gas due to its composition ratio. Safety concerns are incredibly high due to this fire risk.

What we use instead is the industry supplied Hydrogen which is available from many gas companies as a relatively pure form of gas supplied in pressurised bottles (cylinders).

Using compressed hydrogen ensures that there is a ready supply for a reasonable journey. This purer form of hydrogen remains at a concentration that is too high to support combustion until it is actually discharged into the engine intake, which in comparison to Browns Gas, is a much safer option.

Role of Computer Chip System in HEMS

The primary role of the computer in HEMS system is to automatically control the flow of hydrogen that is being pumped into the diesel engine, without any manual adjustment needed after its installation. The following is how the chip will control hydrogen flow:
